Come & Sing, Come & Play!
This MRF Festival event will appeal to those who are curious about contemporary music and want practical opportunities to explore it.
Do you sing or play? Are you age 14 or up?
Join our Festival Ensembles and explore accessible new choral and instrumental music.
Our theme this year is: Togetherness
Opportunities include:
Come & Play...
our Performer-in-Residence, Toril Azzalini-Machecler, BBC Young Musician finalist, percussion, will lead a Percussion Workshop;
our Flexible Ensemble will explore arrangements of 2 Tangos by Astor Piazzolla, and 2 pieces by our alumni: Roots - Carrot Music by Pernille Faye, and a new piece by Felix Sladen-Jewell.
All instruments are welcome. Moderate sight-reading ability.
Come & Sing...
our Scratch Choir will explore pieces Martin Read's catchy folksong: 'On the Steps of the ButterCross', and 21st Birthday Greetings by Ella Laughton, alumnus.
Moderate sight-reading ability required.
Dr Pande Shahov will direct ensembles.
Each ensemble will perform at the 1-hour early evening concert, from 6.30pm
Also in the concert, Toril Azzalini-Machecler will give a 2nd performance of each short commission for solo percussionist, by our 4 award-holders. These will have been premiered at the Royal College of Music, in March.
